Set Design just completed and now they've launched for fall sweeps!
Establishing 2/3 design in 1999 after graduating with a Masters of Architecture, Jill Cooper quickly left the stodgier world of building codes and concrete for the fast flying world of television and film. She has been designing a diverse range of sets ever since, from national news to sports, prestigious awards shows to sex talk shows, from booze commercials to zombie plays...Jill has done it all!
This was my second complete redesign for Daily Planet. The first set was very warm, earthy, Home & Garden -like. This second (current) set was designed for the show's new direction with high-tech metal, screens, and bright color. The show uses a lot of cameras and movement and the set accommodates almost a full 360 degree environment. (Note: Full video of the making of the set -Daily Planet episode- available)
Included the interior design for new building construction that would also be used as background for the set. The News show is shot with their working newsroom as the main background with views out a window of the building and into a control room for a secondary backgrounds. I was able to work with the building's Interior Designer to frame specific shots and change architectural elements and color to maximize the depth in these shots.
